There are three ways to turn off TikTok notifications: disable selected alert types inside TikTok, block every TikTok alert through your phone’s settings, or mute push notifications during scheduled hours. TikTok’s Inbox is separate from phone push notifications, so disabling push alerts does not remove activity displayed inside the app.

Turn off selected TikTok notification types

Use TikTok’s in-app controls when you still want some alerts but want to stop unwanted categories. According to TikTok’s notification guidance, the available notification types can vary by account.

  1. Open TikTok and tap Profile.
  2. Open the Menu.
  3. Select Settings and privacy.
  4. Tap Notifications.
  5. Turn off each available notification type you do not want to receive.

These controls manage push alerts delivered to your phone. They are different from activity and filters shown in the TikTok Inbox. Because TikTok does not provide the same category list for every account, use the options currently displayed on your Notifications screen.

Turn off all TikTok notifications on iPhone or Android

To stop every TikTok push alert, disable the app’s notification permission through iOS or Android. This device-level setting overrides TikTok’s in-app choices: alerts will remain blocked even if individual notification types are still enabled in TikTok.

On iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Select TikTok.
  4. Turn off Allow Notifications.

This path follows Apple’s notification settings guide.

On Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Notifications.
  3. Tap App notifications.
  4. Select TikTok and disable its notifications.

Android menu names and placement can vary by device manufacturer and Android version. If these labels do not match your phone, search Settings for notifications or TikTok. Google provides more detail in its guide to Android notification controls.

Mute TikTok notifications on a schedule

Where the option is available, TikTok’s push notification schedule silences alerts during selected hours without permanently disabling them.

  1. In TikTok, go to Profile.
  2. Open the Menu, then select Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Open Push notification schedule.
  5. Configure the available quiet hours.

The schedule option may not appear for every account. If it is absent, you can still block all TikTok push alerts using the iPhone or Android permissions described above.

Teen account restrictions: For users ages 13 to 15, TikTok automatically mutes push notifications from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. For users ages 16 to 17, it mutes them from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. TikTok says these schedules cannot be changed.

Does turning off TikTok notifications remove activity from the Inbox?

No. Phone push notifications and activity displayed inside TikTok’s Inbox are separate. Disabling push alerts stops notifications delivered by the phone but does not remove Inbox activity.

Can I mute TikTok notifications only at night?

Yes, if Push notification schedule is available for your account. Users ages 13 to 15 have fixed quiet hours from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., while users ages 16 to 17 have fixed quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. These teen schedules cannot be changed.
